What Happens After You Order a Lab Journey?
The labs part is easy to understand. It's the after that stops people: What happens when I click order? Who looks at my results? Do I get a confusing PDF and a pat on the head, or does an actual nurse walk me through it?
Fair questions.
I'm Nicole, a registered nurse, and I built Lab Journeys to be the second look I once needed myself — so here's the entire process, step by step, with nothing vague. If you know exactly what happens, you can decide in peace.
Step 1: You Choose Your Journey and Order Online
Each Lab Journey is a focused set of lab tests built around a theme — foundational wellness, women's hormones, heart and metabolic, thyroid, inflammation and nutrients, men's health, or essential basics. You order through our Wellness Shop; there's no appointment to book and no office visit to schedule first. Journey prices include the testing and my review — the price you see is the price of the Journey.
(At checkout, a $9.50 physician authorization fee and a lab collection fee apply where applicable — they're itemized before you pay, never a surprise after.)
Not sure which Journey fits? The free 3-minute Wellness Check points you to the right one based on your symptoms.
Step 2: Your Lab Order (or Kit) Is Arranged for You
After ordering, you receive exactly what you need to get your samples collected — directions included, step by step. Depending on the tests in your Journey, collection is either a standard blood draw at a patient service center near you or an at-home kit — like a finger-prick blood spot — that you complete and mail back. You'll also get a confirmation email from us right after ordering ("here's exactly what happens next"), so you're never wondering whether your order went through or what you're waiting for.
Step 4: I Personally Review Your Results
This is the step that makes a Journey a Journey. When your results are in, I review them myself — not an algorithm, not a call center, not a generic printout with ranges highlighted. I read your results the way I was trained to: in context, looking at patterns across markers, where you fall within ranges, and how the pieces fit together — the second look a rushed annual visit rarely has time for.
Step 3: You Complete Your Testing
You do the draw or the kit on your schedule. No fasting gymnastics beyond what your specific tests require — we tell you plainly if a test needs fasting. Your samples go to certified laboratories, the same standard labs used across healthcare, and your results are processed there.
Step 5: You Receive Your Plain-Language Wellness Plan
Your review comes back to you as a clear, plain-language plan: what your results show, what patterns stand out, what they're commonly associated with, and practical next steps — including the questions worth bringing to your own clinician. No jargon wall, no "everything's normal" dismissal of results that deserve a conversation. You'll know what you have, what it means, and what to do next.
Step 6: You Stay on the Map — Retest Reminders Included
Health isn't a one-time snapshot. Ninety days after your Journey, you'll get a retest reminder from us — because the real story is change over time: did the number move? Did the plan work? A second data point turns a guess into a trend, and trends are where confident decisions live.
Imagine Knowing Exactly Where You Stand
Picture it: no portal printout you're Googling at midnight. No "normal" that doesn't match how you feel, left unexplained. Instead — your results, reviewed by a nurse, explained in words that make sense, with a plan and a retest on the calendar.
That's what happens after you order.
Your one clear next step: start your Lab Journey.
